MBC expects May inflation
at 2.7%
June 4, 2003 - Three fuel price rollbacks last month could have
helped bring down inflation to between 2.6% and 2.7% in May
from 2.8% in April despite the reported rise in fish and vegetable
prices in the wake of typhoon "Chedeng". While the
Bangko Sentral projects May inflation between 2.8% and 2.9%,
the NEDA expects May inflation between 2.6% and 2.8%. Analysts
polled by two wire agencies point to an average inflation rate
of 2.8% for May.
