June 3, 2002 - The onset of the rainy season
and the opening of classes are expected to bring the June inflation
up by 0.7 - 0.9% month-on-month, or a year-on-year inflation
of between 3.5 - 3.7%. This forecast already takes into account
lower electricity billings from the reduction in the purchased
power cost adjustment and the P0.30 - P0.35 per liter cut in
the pump prices of fuel products. On the other hand, food prices
may have been hit by the early dry spell in some provinces.
