Election Fever

With only a few weeks to go before the election, many things remain unclear to the public. Sure, there are campaign flyers, posters, television advertisements and talk shows, and the daily news in all forms that give updates on the activities of politicians in the running. But just as important as knowing who to choose from amongst the many candidates on the field is finding out how to go about the election as ordinary citizens.

It is important, for example, for people to know just how the votes are counted, so they can be vigilant in guarding against election fraud in their own communities. There is also an advantage in knowing beforehand the process a voter has to undergo on election day so he can be well-equipped with the necessary identification documents and will not have to waste time looking for his precinct.

Thus, we decided to come up with a quick read on the who, how, what, and where of the May 10 elections. Our responsibility does not start and stop at casting our votes. Rather, it’s in knowing that we took to heart the main reason why we should exercise the right – to put in place leaders that can help move the country forward.
